OUR COMMITMENTS WITHIN WINE IN BLOCK

Reducing the amount of greenhouse gases emitted by human activities

    • We have chosen to use the Stellar and Polygon blockchains, which use a "Proof-of-stake" protocol that is much less polluting than other blockchains
    • The widespread use of teleworking will represent an annual reduction of 3,300 tonnes of CO2. Wine In Block is contributing to this effort by setting up a teleworking charter.

    FUTURE INITIATIVES AND COMMITMENTS

Ecodesign of our devices - Ecodesign diagnostic with ADEME to improve the environmental performance of our Wine In Block© Digital Passport and QWIB sensors by means of an environmental assessment based on a life cycle analysis (LCA) and an environmental impact assessment (EIA).

Cycle analysis (LCA) and the identification of improvement actions.

Reducing the environmental impact of our activities

    • Implementation of an environmental management system and carbon assessment of our solutions.
    • Environmental and extra-financial criteria in the selection of our transport and destocking methods and in the selection of our key suppliers.
    • Signing of the Planet Tech'Care charter.
    • Implementation of the ACT and EcoVadis approaches.

IMPACT OF OUR SOLUTIONS FOR OUR CUSTOMERS

    Reducing the carbon footprint

The top three energy expenditure items for the V&S sector are incoming materials (glass, plastic, cardboard, etc.), freight and energy (electricity, fuel, agricultural machinery, etc.). These three items account for 76% of the industry's carbon footprint (source: CIVB / Carbone4). A bottle of grand cru wine changes owners several times and most often travels a long way before being drunk.

    • The use of NFTs (Non-Fungible Tokens) associated with physical assets for trade reduces the carbon footprint by improving the efficiency of supply chain management and eliminating some transport requirements as it is the NFT certificate of ownership that is traded and not the bottle.
    • The storage of bottles associated with an NFT in the Wine In Block warehouses provides NFT holders and investors in general with reliable and secure information about their assets. With this transparency on the market, players are able to exchange their ownership titles without the need to physically move the bottles concerned.
    • 1 cubic metre of cross laminated timber absorbs 460kg of CO2. With this in mind, the Wine In Block warehouses will be designed using environmentally-friendly materials.

Respect for the environment and biodiversity

Thanks to the transparency associated with the use of blockchain, wine producers have a real opportunity to highlight their best practices (reduction in the use of phytosanitary inputs, reduction in water consumption, etc.).

    • Wine In Block makes it possible to effectively combat counterfeiting and thus to combat the associated job losses and loss of tax revenue; counterfeiting in the Wines & Spirits sector represents €1.3 billion in annual losses and almost 5,000 jobs in Europe according to the INPI.

    Combating corruption and money laundering

    • KYT (Know Your Transaction) and KYC: we monitor and track transactions carried out by our customers when selling and reselling NFT to identify potentially risky transactions in terms of money laundering, terrorist financing, tax fraud, corruption and other financial crimes with our security and payment partners (Fireblocks and Coinhouse).

    FUTURE INITIATIVES AND COMMITMENTS

    • Inclusion and diversity: Implementation of a professional equality agreement.
    • Work-life balance: We have introduced a teleworking charter and offer our employees an attractive and flexible working environment.

IMPACT OF OUR SOLUTIONS FOR OUR CUSTOMERS

    Boosting regional vitality

Our solutions offer key advantages for promoting local or regional products, helping to strengthen regional identity and support local economic development.

    • Increased visibility: greater recognition of products thanks to greater exposure to consumers.
    • Highlighting products: enhancing the value of the products on offer by highlighting their unique characteristics and qualities.
    • Positive impact: promoting products has an impact on the local economy in terms of increasing economic activity, stimulating innovation and creating jobs.

    Redistribution of added value

    • The use of blockchain and, by extension, NFTs, has made transactions on these platforms more transparent, as has the development of smart-contracts. The transparency of the market and the automation of contracts means that these digital tokens linked to physical assets enable a fairer redistribution of value creation.
    • The NFTs issued by Wine In Block and associated with the bottles concerned have smart-contracts, the terms of which are negotiated pre-drop. By determining a satisfactory rate of redistribution for the winery wishing to launch an NFT cuvée, these contracts ensure that the added value is shared fairly and optimally.

IMPACT OF OUR SOLUTIONS FOR OUR CUSTOMERS

    Responsible decentralisation

By using blockchain to aggregate information from its ecosystem, Wine In Block is opting for transparency and decentralisation.

Transparency: the blockchain provides total and unchanging transparency of the transactions recorded on the network. This means that all parties involved have access to the same information, which strengthens trust between stakeholders.

Decentralisation: blockchain is a decentralised network, which means that there is no centralised control point. This can help to reduce the risks of corruption and manipulation.
